ARTIFICIAL SUGARS

Artificial sugars are exactly that. They are made up of artificially-synthesized compounds.

The canadian Food and Drugs Act & Regulation; and the U.S. Food & Drug Administrations, are entrusted with the serious task of protecting citizens from harmful products and the mercenaries that would peddle them.

It is extremely important that we are aware of how our federal agencies are responding to the "safety" controversies surrounding artificial sugars.

Federal Agency-Approved Artificial Sweeteners

Currently, in Canada, six artificial sweeteners have bee approved for use along with their suggested "Acceptable Daily Intake" levels.

Sucralose (Brand Name: splenda); aspartame (Brand Names: nutrasweet, equal, sugar twin(blue box), and sweet'n low); cylamates (Brand Names: sucaryl, sugar twin(yellow box), sweet'n low); saccharin (Brand Name: hermesetas); acesulfame potassium or acesulfame K; sugar alcohols (Brand Names: sorbitol, mannitol, xylitol). In the U.S., five artificial sweeteners have been approved for use: saccharin, aspartame, sucralose, neotame, and acesulfame potassium. [4.b]Wikipedia-SugarSubstitute

Conflicting Opinions - Conflicting Data

Not only are there conflicting opinions, but there are also conflicting study results regarding the safe use of these artificial sweeteners.

Let's take a close look at the facts, thus far, about each of the above sweeteners.

We need to be able to decide for ourselves the safe use of them.

Sadly, it may very well be questionable whether we can trust the decisions of our federal agencies in this matter.

We begin our investigation with the first artificial sweetener that was discovered: Saccharin
